CONVOY ABC’s Ryan Ward-Mulrine will be in action on Saturday morning at the 2015 National Junior Cadet Championships.
Ward-Mulrine (pictured above) will take to the canvas at the National Stadium for a quarter-final bout at 52kgs.
The Convoy puncher is awaiting the winner from Friday’s preliminary round bout between Frank Duffin of All Saints and Sean Butler from Riverstown.
In February, Ward-Mulrine won an Ulster 9 Counties title at 50kgs when he turned in a classy display to defeat Eddie McDonagh from Omagh, while he lost out in a subsequent Ulster Boy 3 final.
The IABA have confirmed an entry of 123 boxers for the Championships, which get underway next Friday, August 28, at The National Stadium.
Ward-Mulrine is one of only two boxers from Donegal taking part in these Championships. He had been the sole name from the county listed by the IABA, but Bundoran’s Shane Gillespie is guaranteed a place in next Saturday’s finals – he takes on Ruairi Brennan from St Anne’s in the 72kgs decider.
