CONVOY ARSENAL JUMPED ABOVE Lagan Harps at the summit of theTemple Domestic Appliances Division 1 today.

James Kee, Ryan Carlin and Darren Harvey netted the goals as Convoy (pictured above) soared above Lagan, although Keith Hegarty’s team do have a game in hand and are only two points in arreas.
Convoy fired an early warning shot across the Lagan brows when Marty Vance struck the crossbar inside two minutes.
Convoy bagged the lead goal when, in the sixth minute, a corner was only partially cleared and Kee hammered to the net from 14 yards.
Lagan grew into the game and it took a strong save from goalkeeper Christoper O’Donnell to keep out a well-hit shot by Gerard Hilley while Darren Doran’s advances were cut out following a promising break down the right.
Doran was denied by O’Donnell before Johnny Robb had two chances inside of a minute, twice firing over the top after being put through by, first, Carliin and then Vance.
Convoy almost made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time, but Daniel Clarke hooked off the line after Carlin rounded Lagan ‘keeper Jason Quinn.
Five minutes into the second half they did double the lead as Vance broke on the left to tee up Carlin, who found the roof of the net in style.
Lagan (above) had a glorious chance to get back into the game in the 53rd minute when Mark Hunter was fouled inside the box, but Kevin Kelly’s penalty flew off the bar and over.
Lagan were dealt a further blow when Clarke was sent off on the hour having been booked a second time.
Hunter and Chris Toner had shots blocked while it took a brilliant point-blank save by O’Donnell to keep out Marty Brogan’s header.
Twenty minutes from time, Convoy made the win safe as Robb set up Harvey, who finished well from 15 yards.
O”Donnell kept up a fine game with two late saves from Darren Doran and Phillip Doran as Convoy took what could be a vital win in the title race.
