Jason Quigley’s NABF middleweight title defence against former world title challenger Freddy Hernandez will be shown live on eirSport next week.
Quigley (14-0, 11KOs) faces Hernandez (34-9, 22KOs) in a bout slated for 10 rounds at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California next Thursday night.
It will be the early hours of Friday, Irish time, when Quigley steps through the ropes and eirSport have once again confirmed live coverage of the fight.
On Easter weekend, eirSport showed Quigley’s stunning sixth round KO of Daniel Rosario from Boston.
“It’s fantastic for my fans back at home for eirSport to be getting behind my career like this,” Quigley said.
“eirSport are bringing me into the homes of the Irish people. eirSport have been great supporters of the sport of boxing and this is great news for boxing fans in Ireland.
“People will be staying up late – but it will be well worth it!”
Quigley won the NABF belt in March 2017 when he beat Glen Tapia at Fantasy Springs and this is his first defence of the strap.
Hernandez’s most recent notable win was a unanimous decision victory against former WBO interim champion Aflredo Angulo in August 2016.
Back in 2010, he lost out to Andre Berto for the WBC world welterweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
“I’m excited to get back to business,” Quigley said.
“This is my belt now, and I’m not letting anyone take it away. This belt has a place in my home. It’s got a spot in the cabinet. No one is coming into my house to take my belt.”
