Club Captain Ciaran Coll and emerging youngster Shane Blaney have become the first two signings made by Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan for the 2018 season.
News that Coll, who has played almost 250 times for Harps, has decided to stick around following the club’s relegation to the First Division, will serve as a massive boost to the Finn Park faithful.
Letterkenny teenager Blaney, who is not short of suitors across the water, will be hoping for a breakthrough season in 2018 having made a couple of cameo appearances at the end of this year.
“It’s good to get Ciaran and Shane re-signed,” Horgan, who on Monday signed a new two-year deal at Harps, said.
“Ciaran has been very loyal to Finn Harps over the past nine seasons and his experience will be vital to us in the First Division next year.
“Shane has shown that he has the quality to play at senior level. He made his first full start for me up in Tallaght against Shamrock Rovers and did very well at centre-half.
“Shane’s only 18 and provided he works at his game he has the potential to make a big impact for us next season.
Blaney is a former captain of the Harps U17s and also featured for the club’s U19s. He also had the honour of captaining the Republic of Ireland Schoolboys in an International Centenary Shield win over Wales in February.
Coll signed for Harps from Kildrum Tigers in 2009 having spent some time at Hearts in Scotland as a teenager.
