THE winter weather gave its full effect last weekend for Sheephaven Sub Aqua Club divers, with a combination of very cold air conditions and a generally northerly air flow that brought rough conditions out to sea.
As these seas have stirred up all the dive sites the Sheephaven divers were in training mode, with the club instructors taking the new trainees though their classroom work in preparation of the forthcoming pool work.
But there was still time and opportunity for the divers to get into the water, with the Sunday morning snorkel putting to sea in reasonably challenging conditions outside the harbour.
Water temperature has now begun to be effected by the frosty conditions, now below 10 degrees and likely to remain there for quite a few months before they show any sign that they will come back up again.
Undeterred by the cold one club member has chosen to swim with the Gartan Swimmers and without the comfort of a wet suit – fair play to Ryan Ward for keeping the Sheephaven side up.
