The defender was chosen as the pick of the bunch as his team won a treble haul of honours.
Cockhill, under new player-manager Gavin Cullen, swept the boards to win the League and League Cup double.
The four-in-a-row League champions secured their title with a 2-2 draw against Derry City. After being 2-0 down, Gerard McLaughlin and Doherty scored the late title-winning goals.
It was Doherty’s 89th minute header that ultimately sealed the deal, while Cockhill also won the Knockalla Caravans Senior Cup.
Doherty scored five goals from centre-back this season and was recognised for his endeavours by scooping the top gong.
Darren McElwaine’s 12 goals saw the Letterkenny Rovers striker leave the award ceremony at the Mount Errigal Hotel with the top goalscorer award.
