GLENGAD UNITED and Clonmany Shamrocks booked their places in the final of the Clubman Shirts League Cup today.

THE home side was prominent form the start. James McKinney’s excellent run took him past three defenders but his shot from outside the area skimmed the post.
Minutes later the home side was claiming a penalty after Stephen McLaughlin, benefiting from a mistake in the visiting defence, rounded the keeper and ended up on the ground but appeals were waved away.
The opening score arrived on 15 minutes after Matthew Byrne accepted a pass from McMonagle, with his shot from the edge of the box taking a slight deflection on its way to the net.
[adrotate group=”80″]The visitors almost equalised when McCarron and McDaid combined to find Stephen McHugh and only a goal line clearance prevented a score.
Michael Byrne then fed Terence Doherty who raced clear of the Buncrana defence but Eoghan O’Doherty saved well.
Glengad doubled their advantage when good work from McKinney and Canning set up McMonagle and he turned inside and fired low to the net from 15 yards.
Buncrana got back into the match when Harry Foreshaw picked out McDaid on 18 yards and he turned and fired low to the bottom corner for a fine individual score.
The home side increased its lead immediately after the break. A Stephen Fildara corner was flicked on by Adam Byrne to Terence Doherty at the back post and his overhead kick found the target.
[adrotate group=”85″]On the hour mark Stephen Fildara headed home a Matthew Byrne corner to make it 4–1.
Glengad were dominant now and scored another three goals in the final quarter. Seamus Doherty and McMonagle combined to set up Terence Doherty who scored from 8 yards.
Doherty completed his hat trick on 70 minutes after Kevin McLaughlin’s long throw found Canning near the half way line and the midfielder’s perfect pass allowed Doherty to fire low to the net from 18 yards.
A superb Mark Smyth header from a Terence Doherty cross in the final minute completed the scoring.

CLONMANY advance to the final with a hard fought win over Dunree
Clonmany took the lead on 25 minutes when an angled ball from Fergal Harkin found Jamie Coyle to shoot past Philip Doherty from five yards.
On 30 minutes Philip McGuiness had an effort for Dunree just past the post.
Clonmany’s Friel brought a fine save from Doherty, but Dunree levelled on 60 minutes when Kevin Mc Colgan was brought down in the box and Philip McGuinness slotted home.
On 75 minutes Paddy Doherty’s header was saved one handed by the home keeper.
Clonmany were awarded a penalty on 82 minutes when Mark McLaughlin was brought down and Jamie Coyle stepped up his spot kick was saved by Doherty but the rebound fell kindly to Coyle to score at the second attempt.
Following a Mc Guiness corner, Liam Baldrick’s header was cleared off the line by Raymond McDaid and Clonmany advance to the final.
