Chaill Cloich Cheannfhaola an dá chluiche in éadan Sheáin Mhic Cumhaill i mBealach Feích Dé Domhnaigh.
Buaileadh an fhoireann tacaíochta 3-12|0-08 agus chaill na sinsir 3-12|2-09 – fuair foireann Sheáin Mhic Cumhaill cúl ó chic pionóis ag deireadh an chluiche. Tosaítear ar an Chraobh arís ar an Domhnach seo 23ú Lúnasa. Bhéarfaidh Cloich Cheannfhaola aghaidh ar Ghleann Fhinne ar Pháirc Naomh Fionán ar 1:30 agus 3:00 PM
After a lengthy break the league campaign was back in full swing again at the weekend, where Cloughaneely travelled to MacCumhaill Park. With Cloughaneely sitting near the top of the league table and MacCumhaills dangerously near the bottom it was a game of significant value to each side!
The reserves, missing a few key players from their first round encounter, suffered a heavy 3-12|0-08 defeat.
The Seniors also were unfortunate to succumb to a 3-13|2-09 defeat.
We revert to championship this weekend, where Cloughaneely play their only home game of the Championship campaign. They host Glenfin on Sunday at 1:30 and 3:00 PM. We would like to see as many people as possible down to support the boys in their home champsionship outing!
***Donegal Ladies***
Ádh mór ar Róisín Ní Chuireáin agus ar fhoireann ban Dhún na nGall atá ag imirt in éadan árd Mhacha i gcluiche ceathrú ceannais na hÉireann i gCluain Eois ar an tSatharn 22ú Lúnasa ar 12:30 PM.
Best of luck to our own Róisín Ní Chuireáin and the Donegal ladies as they face Armagh in the All-Ireland quarter final on August 22nd at 12:30 PM in Clones!
***U-21 Championship***
Our U-21 team welcomed Termon to Páirc Naomh Fionán on Friday evening last in the U-21A Championship. Confusion arose as the final whistle blew and the ref awarded Termon a 1 point win. The majority of spectators there, including members of the media, had recorded a draw. D
espite discussions with the media and team officials after the game, the ref insisted it was a one point win. Cloughaneely subsequently lodged an appeal – the outcome of which is yet unknown at the time of the club notes being distributed.
It was a very low scoring first half with both teams struggling to get their shots on target.
Half time score was 0-04 to 0-01, with Termon’s first score being registered in the 25th minute.
Half time talks worked well as both teams came out fighting for the 2nd half.
Cloughaneely dominated possession for the first 10 mins of the 2nd half, opening the half with a point from Michael Fitzgerald within 2 mins. Termon then registered their 1st point from play, in the 36th min, as a result of the joint efforts of Seamus Mac Sharry and Enda McCormick. CCF’s top scorer Cillian Gallagher then neatly notched off another 3 points in quick succession for the home side. Cloughaneely should have pushed on from this point as they had the Termon side well under control.
However Termon really started to find their stride within the 40th minute –where they clocked up a tally 1-03 , unanswered, within 7 mins of play, with a couple of outstanding points coming from Ricki Gallagher. Termon’s goal came in the 49th minute where Daire McDaid, true to form, did an excellent job of navigating through the CCF defence to blast the ball into the top corner of the goals to draw the teams level. With the pressure mounting CCF managed to register 2 quick points from a Cillian Gallagher free and a point from play from substitute Eamonn Sweeney. However Termon, determined not to be out done, responded strongly with 2 quick points of their own from Daire McDaid and Ricki Gallagher.
CCF: Shaun McClafferty, Ciaran McFadden, Cian McFadden, Noel Sweeney, *****, Martin Ferry (0-01), Christopher Cannon, Joe Coll, Lee O’Brien, Mark Harley, John Harley (0-01), Jason McGee, Michael Fitzgerald (0-01), Cillian Gallagher (0-06), Ciaran McGeady,
Subs: Noel Sweeney replaced by Eamonn Sweeney (0-01)
