Cloughaneely club notes – big win moves seniors up to joint second

The seniors had their final home game of the season on Sunday, when they faced St Nauls. They came out with a convincing 2-14|0-03 win in what was a very one-sided affair.

Cloughaneely’s top scorer of the day, Jason McGee, was first to open the scoring with a point in the 9^th minute, which was quickly followed up by another point from John Fitzgerald.

Ciaran McGeady had another impressive day out and managed to put away the first goal of the day in the 12^th minute.

John Harley, Paddy Cannon, Shaun McGuire, Lee O’Brien and Darren Ferry were all contributors to Cloughaneely’s first half score of 1-08 to St. Nauls’ 0-02.

Cloughaneely were unfortunate not to have earned a second goal in the 35^th minute when a penalty taken by Jason McGee was saved by the Naul’s keeper and subsequently ended up over the bar to register a point.

Jason added his third point moments later. Cloughaneely’s second goal came in the 47^th minute with Cillian Gallagher off-loading the ball to Jason McGee who found himself in on goal.

Other second half points came from Cian McFadden, Kevin McFadden, Paddy Cannon and Cillian Gallagher. Relative new-comer to the senior panel Ciaran McFadden also put in an impressive and promising performance in the number 7 jersey on the day.

Cloughaneely Seniors now find themselves level with Bundoran in second place on the league table. The league campaign draws to a close this weekend when Cloughaneely play their final game away to Glenfin on Sunday, reserves 1:30pm and Seniors 3pm.

Date for your Diaries: Las Vegas All Star Casino Night

Preparations for the Casino Night on November 14 are well under way. Tickets are in demand and only a limited number are available so please get your order in with any club officer or through Óstan Loch Áltan as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.

 Halloween Disco

There will be an adult fancy dress disco with Dj Ed held in Óstan Loch Áltan on Saturday October 31^st. Doors open at 11pm and prize for best dressed on the night.

Quiz Night

The Cloughaneely Quiz night will take place this Friday night, October 30^th, at 9.30pm in the Shamrock. The quizzes have always been a great night so bring your friends and family along for the night.
