A goal four minutes before half-time was certainly deserved for the Killybegs side. It arrived when a good move down the right saw the ball arrive at the feet of Conor O’Rourke and his fine cross was headed back across goal and past Simon McMenamin in the Castlefin goal by Barry Rose.
It was the visitors who created the early chances. Fifteen minutes in, Barry Cannon blasted over and then the same player – having linked up with Rose – saw a shot blocked by Peter Bryson.
Then, on 26 minutes, Rose saw his shot hit the outside of the post.
Castlefin’s best chance came when Calvin Bradley went close and then the hosts got Matthew O’Rourke get in only for David Conwell to make a fine covering tackle.

In the second half, Rose went close to adding a second – his effort was blocked – before he doubled the St Catherine’s advantage on 54 minutes.
The former Eany Celtic frontman crashed home at the second attempt following Cannon’s cross.
Castlefin tried to get back into the game and Ronan Tourish was out of luck as Michael Mullin saved well.
A third St Catherine’s goal confirmed the points. McHugh won the ball in midfield and then finished superbly following a give-and-go with Rose.
