The first round of the Vitus Enduro Mountain Bike Championship took place in county Louth at the weekend and three Donegal riders made the trip.
Tír Chonaill Gap Cycling Club members Gerrard Curran and Adam Voss along with Callum Morris from Inishowen Wheelers all took part.
Following heavy rain during the week the stages were horrendous for Saturday’s practice but the rapidly drying trails meant they were in much better condition for the race on Sunday, although it was still very slippery.
For Adam and Gerrard it was their first enduro but the pair soon got to grips with the new venue at Ravensdale Forest.
Following a tricky first stage they both improved through the day with some good steady riding.
Adam finished 28th in senior category and Gerard came home 40th in veteran.
In the U14 category Callum took fastest time on all the stages winning by over a minute from his nearest competitor.
It was an excellent start to the season for the youngster and the new Dirtyrides MTB apparel enduro team – great momentum to take into his next event.
This weekend is the first round of the Irish Downhill Championship in Wicklow, where both Adam and Callum will be in competition
