Pass4Soccer are holding an information and assessment day in Letterkenny on Sunday-week, March 11, aimed at female players in the area seeking scholarships in 2019/2020.
Learners and their parents will also have the opportunity to meet the Pass4Soccer team and play in an assessment game.
On the day players will be given an indication of their potential scholarship levels as well as the opportunity to ask any questions they or their parents have.
Jones County Mississippi, who are touring Ireland, will play assessment games against Glentoran, Pass4Soccer and the Donegal U16s.
“We are looking for Female players between the ages of 15-18 who might be interested in pursuing the soccer scholarship route to America and a Third Level Education,” a spokesman for Pass4Soccer said.
“Soccer scholarships are awarded at ages 17 to 21 whether or not a player is in Education. It is important however after the Free Evaluation that student-athletes that are suitable have their academic and athletic ability verified at the Assessment stage.
“The Elite or Talented player will be in or moving up to Higher Education or have taken a gap year, playing in organised leagues and training regularly under the supervision of a qualified coach.
“Players who are working and have been out of education for over 1 year can win a scholarship to either a 4 year university or a 2 year college subject to certain conditions.”
Among those from Donegal who have gone through the Pass4Soccer route are ex-Finn Harps U19 players Sam Murphy and Aaron McCready. Former St Eunan’s College student Murphy is at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, where he plays for the Buster soccer team, while McCready, who attended the Royal and Prior in Raphoe, goes to McPherson College in Kansas, playing for the Bulldogs team.
PASS4Soccer have helped hundreds of players from all over the Ireland, UK and Europe gain scholarships in the USA. These players currently study at colleges all over America.
At the event, players will have the opportunity to meet the PASS4Soccer Team, showcase their ability and find out more about soccer scholarships.
