BURT RAN OUT eight-point winners against St Eunan’s in this evening’s Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure Donegal SHC clash at Hibernian Park.
Burt 3-11 St Eunan’s 1-9
The reigning county champions put in a solid first half, after which they led 2-8 to 0-2. St Eunan’s did improved after the break but had left themselves too much to do.
After Niall Campbell – who would score 2-9 in all – popped over three early placed balls, the county forward scored an excellent goal on 17 minutes when he beat several defenders and slammed into James Connors’ top corner.
It took 20 minutes for St Eunan’s to get on the board, which they eventually managed through Ciaran Kelly.
However, just a minute later, Burt added a second goal through Ronan McDermott, who finished well following a long ball in from Ciaran Finn.
Campbell added four more points before the break and Gavin McGrath was also on the scoresheet. Kevin Kealy’s late point for the away team meant Burt were 12 up at half-time.

Then, on 43 minutes, the visitors’ goal came following a long ball in from Sean Halvey and Kealy shot low past Paul Burns.
That made the score 2-8 to 1-7 and Burt might’ve been uneasy momentarily. However, they reclaimed some of their cushion when Campbell got in behind the St Eunan’s defence five minutes from time to strike the goal that killed the game.
