Burnfoot boy Tristan Logue has continued his impressive martial arts winning streak by recently claiming Gold at 4 different major grappling competitions.
The 12-year-old Team Evolve competitor took part in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ‘Sub Only’ competition in Blanchardstown in February against some of the best grappling kids in the country.
Confidence was high going into the competition, having won the BJJ Junior European Championships in November last year, and Tristan continued to impress by defeating his first opponent via armbar in just 8 seconds (the fastest submission of the day), before winning in the final in just 20 seconds, much to the admiration of the onlooking spectators, in what was his first competition of 2017.
Last month, Tristan – who goes to Scoil Naomh Mura in Tooban – flew over to Wolverhampton, England to take part in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) UK National Championships, to compete as an Orange Belt in the Teen 1 Under 38kg category.
He was paired up against the very experienced French National Champion in the final.
Justifying his nickname of ‘The Prodigy’, Tristan turned many heads by dispatching his opponent in just 10 seconds (again the fastest submission of the day), after making his opponent submit to a straight armlock, to take home his 2nd successive UK National title.
Affectionately known as Team Evolve’s ‘Wee Warrior’, Tristan lived up to his moniker the following week by competing in the Judo Irish Open being held at the Foyle Arena in Derry, fighting in the Under 38kg category.
Despite only holding the grade of yellow belt in judo, Tristan went on to defeat his more experienced blue belt and brown belt opponents in the respective semi finals and final, earning himself the title of Irish Open Judo Champion to add to his many other accolades.

In the last fortnight, Tristan flew over to Walsall, England to compete in the NAGA (North American Grappling Association) Championships, the biggest grappling competition to take place in the UK.
Tristan lost his first match of the day, in the Expert No-Gi Division 4-3 on points, after going to overtime following a 2-2 draw, against last year’s Champion (who went on to win the division again), but he bounced back to earn the Bronze medal, defeating his opponent from Belgium via armbar in under a minute.
Tristan suited up to compete in the Expert Gi Division, where he went defeated all of his opponents in under a minute each, with a string of armbar victories, to take home the crown and prestigious title belt of NAGA Champion.
