BUNCRANA’S JOINT-MANAGER Lawrence Hegarty could’ve been forgiven for breathing a sign of relief at the conclusion of yesterday’s Ladies’ Junior Football Championship final against Naomh Conaill.
Hegarty, who is in charge with Brian Stokes, saw an eight-point lead whittle away to nothing before Natasha Craig edged Buncrana in  front with time almost up.
However, right at the death Naomh Conaill were awarded a penalty, only for the Buncrana goalkeeper Amy Casey to save from Nicola Gallagher to seal the 1-10 to 2-6 win.
“It was heart-stopping stuff,” Hegarty said. “We didn’t deserve to lose it but we almost did. I thought we’d thrown it away. It comes down to fine margins.”
Afterwards, Hegarty shared his thoughts with Alan Foley. Listen to the interview in full below …
