The Michael Fitzpatrick Memorial Open Stroke took centre stage at the weekend at Buncrana Golf Club.
And the huge turnout of members and visitors in the inclement weather was a testament to the high esteem that Michael was held within the local golfing community.
Club notes:
The Fitzpatrick Family once again put up a great array of prizes and with the weather not playing ball over the weekend conditions were tough and it showed on the scorecards. Single handicapper and local golfing legend Oliver Doherty (4) who has found a new lease of life on the course recently, produced the round of the weekend to return a 1 over Par gross round for a great score of 63nett which was enough to win him the 1st prize from Garry Doherty (R) who is also on a fine run of form this year.
Garry had to settle for 2nd place with his 64nett. We had a much welcome return to form for Damien Doherty (7) as he posted a 65nett/72 gross to take the Gross prize and Kevin McGrath continued his fine form with another podium finish by taking the 3rd Prize with a 65nett. Full results as follows;
1st Oliver Doherty (4) 63nett. 2nd Garry Doherty (11) 64nett. Gross Damien Doherty (7) 65 nett. 3rd Kevin McGrath (14) 65nett. Best Day Kevin Treacy (15) 67nett (Saturday). Visitor Liam Reddin (15) 66nett (City of Derry) and Back 9 Ciaran McLaughlin (10) 30nett. C.S.S. 65
