The competition last weekend was an 18 hole Stableford Sweep and the big-hitting Oisin O’ Flaherty finally put a round together to hit a tremendous 47 pts.
This score gave Oisin first prize and his maiden victory in the process. If Oisin continues to improve the rest of the O’ Flaherty brothers Pauric, Fiachra and Ferdia better be looking over their shoulders for he’ll not be the highest golfing handicap O’ Flaherty brother for long.
The results of last weeks 18 hole Stableford Sweep are as follows; 1st Oisin O’ Flaherty (17) 47 pts and 2nd Paul Eccles (16) 37 pts. There will be an 18 Hole Stableford Sweep this Sunday 20th January 2019 and there is a timesheet in operation.
The course will be closed on Saturday 19th January from 9:00 a.m. onwards to facilitate the Donegal & Friends Ladies Alliance. Any male members wishing to get 9 holes on Saturday 19th would need to be out before 9:00 a.m.

Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Buncrana Golf Club took place last Sunday and the Secretary informed the members present that 2018 was a good year for the club. With the Irish Open in Ballyliffin during the summer, there were a lot of visitors availing of what the Buncrana Golf Club has to offer. The feedback from these visitors was very positive with nothing but compliments about the very reasonable green fee rate of €20.00, the excellent greens and the friendliness and welcoming ambience about the club.
There is also a renewed enthusiasm amongst the juveniles and the younger males with a lot of new members coming into the club. These new members can see what the club has to offer with the excellent membership rates, the welcoming ambience from everyone and the camaraderie that can be gained from being a member of the Buncrana Golf Club.
The Treasurer informed the members that 2018 was a positive year financially for the club and thanked everyone who supported all the fundraising efforts either by buying or selling lines. The extra revenue from the greens fees and the new members have helped to put the club in a good position going forward but as the golfing market continues to be difficult it wasn’t a time to rest on our laurels.
The members at the Annual General Meeting proposed a slight increase on male membership with the rates increasing by €17.00. However, this rate will not really take effect until 2020 because anyone who has their membership paid in full on or before March 17th 2019 will be exempt.
However, anyone who pays after this date will be subject to the €17.00 increase. The new Officers for 2019 are Hon. President Mr. Pius Mc Fadden, Hon. Captain Mr. Benny Murphy, Hon. Secretary Mr. Francis McGrory and Hon. Treasurer Mr. Gary Mc Laughlin.
