BRETT McGinty is poised to make his professional debut this week.
McGinty is set to make his bow in the paid ranks on Friday night, Oakleaf Boxing Club have announced on social media.
An eight-time Irish champion with Oakleaf, McGinty’s much-awaited and delayed debut will be on Friday.
McGinty, trained by multiple world champion Ricky Hatton, will fight as part of a Channel 5-televised show promoted by Hennessy Sports in Redditch.
In 2019, St Johnston man signed with Sheer Sports Management, the Los Angeles-based management company who also have Donegal middleweight Jason Quigley in their stable.
James Power and Monaghan brothers Stevie and Aaron McKenna are other Irish punchers looked after by Sheer Sports.
Stevie McKenna will also be on Friday’s bill, with the night’s main bout seeing Shakan Pitters and Craig Richards clash for the British Light-Heavyweight title.
That bout will be ‘live’ with the night’s other fights shown ‘as live’ on Channel 5.
McGinty won his first Irish title in 2010, collecting the Boy 1 46kgs crown.
Seven more national crowns followed and he was an Irish Elite finalist in 2018, when he was beaten by Michael Nevin.
The 22-year-old is also a European Schoolboys bronze medalist and a Commonwealth Youth Games silver medalist.
