THE 2020 Donegal SFC final between Naomh Conaill and Kilcar is to be replayed.
Donegal GAA’s Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) have this evening decided that the game should be replayed after finding that Naomh Conaill were in breach of a regulation.
On August 14, Naomh Conaill won 4-2 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out following a 2-7 to 0-13 draw after extra time at Sean MacCumhaill Park.
In the days after the game, Kilcar asked the CCC to probe a possible breach of regulation.
The Towney club claimed that Naomh Conaill had used more than the permitted number of substitutes.
GAA rules permit the use of a maximum of three substitutions in extra time.
In extra time, Naomh Conaill sent on John O’Malley, Kieran Gallagher, Marty Boyle and Charles McGuinness.
Naomh Conaill have the right to appeal the CCC’s decision to the Ulster Council.
Under rule, should it be found that there was a breach of rule, the CCC could have awarded the game to Kilcar, fine Naomh Conaill or order a replay.
The 2021 Donegal SFC is due to get underway on the weekend ending September 12.
