Finn Harps have finally been able to release confirmation that Sean Houston, last season’s player of the year, has again put pen to paper at the club for 2017.
Houston has re-signed for Harps ahead of Friday night’s Premier Division League opener against Cork City in Ballybofey.
The Letterkenny man has only been back training in the past fortnight and just featured in one pre-season game, which was Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Cabinteely in Dublin.
Donegal Sport Hub revealed at the end of January that Houston – who had been linked with a number of other Premier Division sides – was set to stay at Harps.
Ollie Horgan expressed relief that the 27-year-old midfielder had agreed terms.
“Sean had some matters to get sorted out before he signed,” Horgan explained.
“I’m pleased now that he is on board ahead of the Cork game. He was a key man for us last season and got us some vital goals. We will need the same and more from Sean this year if we are to be in with a shout of staying in the Premier Division.”
Houston is in his second spell at Finn Park having previously been at the club in 2009.
Houston came up the ranks under Ollie Horgan’s guidance at Fanad United and he has also had stints at UCD, Bray Wanderers and Derry City.
