DONEGAL’S MINORS have been handed a major boost ahead of Saturday week’s Ulster MFC semi-final against Monaghan with the news that Eoghan McGettigan has had his red card overturned.
The Naomh Conaill forward was set to miss the semi-final as a result, but Donegal successfully appealed the decision.
Last night, Donegal County Board Chairman Sean Dunnion represented the county at a meeting with the Ulster Hearings Committee in Armagh, where a case was put up in defence of McGettigan. Donegal are understood to have used video evidence in their submission.
Two minutes into the second half, referee Maggie Farrelly showed McGettigan the red card after he was involved in an off-the-ball incident.

However, it has now been confirmed that McGettigan has ‘been exonerated following the Ulster Council Hearings Committee decision from Donegal’s appeal against the red card’, freeing the player to line out against Monaghan.
