GOALS FROM FINNIAN O’DONNELL and Connor O’Reilly were enough for Bonagee United to seal a place in Under-15 SFAI Skechers Cup quarter-finals.
Arklow Town 1-2 Bonagee United
Pictures and report: Patrick O’Donnell Cook
The Dry Arch Park side came from behind against Arklow Town at Bridgewater Centre Park.
The home team started the game a lot stronger and it only took minutes for them to take the lead.
United fought hard and defended well but Arklow kept creating chances. The second half started in a similar vein but Bonagee soon upped their game and started creating chances too.
Halfway through the second half Finnian O’Donnell went one on one with the keeper which he coolly chipped to level the game. United were confident now and with 10 minutes to go Connor O’Reilly managed to get on the end of a corner kick to take the lead.
Arklow threw everything at United but by sheer guts and determination they held on. This really was a giant killing for every one of the Bonagee boys who gave everything they had. An enormous win for Bonagee. Next up the boys are in Galway to face Mervue in the last eight,
