FINN HARPS MANAGER Ollie Horgan will have to find himself a new assistant manager after Gavin Dykes’ appointment as the new Head Coach of Ballinamallard United.
Dykes returned to Finn Park in February, following a 15-year absence, when he became Horgan’s number two.
However, this morning Ballinamallard confirmed that the Sligo native had been selected as the replacement for Whitey Anderson.
Dykes’ shock departure comes as a blow to Harps, who will have hoped to hone his extensive contacts in the game come the opening of the summer transfer window.

“His knowledge of the local game and his proven track record in the development of youth were an obvious attraction for the club. We are moving into a post Whitey era, but we believe we have the right man to take the club forward and we welcome Gavin to the club”.
Dykes played for Harps in the 1999 FAI Cup final defeat to Bray Wanders and took over as caretaker manager after Charlie McGeever resigned amid a bad start to the 1999/00 season.

Less than four months after he rejoined Harps, Dykes has again bid farewell to Harps.
In a brief statement, Harps said: “The board of Finn Harps FC have confirmed the departure of Assistant manager Gavin Dykes who has being appointed as Head Coach at Ballinamallard FC.
