Dunfanaghy ABC’s Bernie McDonagh lost out last night on the occasion of his Irish debut.
McDonagh was part of an Irish squad that took on Germany in a schoolboys international at the National Stadium.
McDonagh was beaten by German Denis Bril 4-1 in a cracking contest.
On a pulsating night of action at the Stadium, Ireland defeated Germany 9-5.
McDonagh was called up after a fine year that saw him win his second Irish title, as he defeated Donnacha Sayers of Cashen Vale in the Boy 3 44.5kgs final.
Last weekend, he was presented with Michael Bonner Trophy for the Best Juvenile Boxer at the Donegal Boxing Board Awards.
