AMBER Barrett came on for the final 20 minutes as the Republic of Ireland defeated Greece in a Euro 2021 qualifier at Tallaght Stadium.
The Milford woman came on for Rianna Jarrett on 72 minutes as Vera Pauw’s Ireland recorded a narrow 1-0 win.
Dianne Caldwell netted the only goal of the game just before half-time. Louise Quinn’ connected with Aine O’Gorman’s free kick and guided the ball across goal for Caldwell to steer home.
Barrett – who now plays her club football in Germany with FC Köln – went close to doubling the lead and sealing the deal three minutes from the end,
Barrett riffled from outside the box but, with the goalkeeper looking beaten, the ball flew just wide.
Ireland remain second in Group I after the win.
