BALLYBOFEY WOMAN Laura Feely made her debut for the Ireland senior women’s rugby team yesterday.
Feely came on as a late replacement in the 22-14 loss to Wales at Donnybrook in a warm-up game ahead of the Women’s Six Nations.
Fahan’s Nora Stapleton, a regular starter for the Irish women, scored a try and two conversions, but the Welsh ran out winners by eight points.
Stapleton scored a first-half try while Feely made her bow in the Irish green, the prop having impressed playing with Galwegians and Connacht.
Ireland begin their Six Nations against Scotland on Friday-week in Edinburgh.
Feely, a former athlete with Finn Valley AC, is based in Galway and was Connacht’s player of the year in 2016.
She is the daughter of Frank and Christine Feely.
