TONY MCNAMEE PRAISED his patched-up Swilly Rovers side for making Letterkenny Rovers battle for advancement in the FAI Youth Cup on Saturday.
While Letterkenny ran out 4-0 winners in the end, McNamee’s side – missing seven regulars for varying reasons – kept the home side scoerless for an hour before conceding four.
“They battled well,” McNamee said.
“We were struggling for a team today, but I wouldn’t take anything away from Letterkenny; they tore us to shreds in the second half.”
This weekend, McNamee’s Under-17s host Cork side Riverstown FC in the FAI Umbro Under-17 Challenge Cup.
