COLÁISTE AILIGH HAD A memorable run to the Ward Cup final last year and Seosamh Mac Ceallabhuí’s men will compete in Ulster again after reaching the Donegal Vocational Schools Senior B final.
A 0-16 to 3-3 win over Deele College at Coláiste Ailigh this morning paved the way into the final, where they’ll meet Moville Community School.
A hat-trick of goals by Simon McGlynn made for a nervy time, but Coláiste Ailigh saw it out.
“We were six up with ten to go and we let in a soft goal. That can happen but it left it tough for us. You have to hand it to some of our players,” Mac Ceallabhuí told Donegal Sport Hub.
“Deele had a big strong team with them. After the goal we responded and we took whatever wee bit of bite they had. We won the kick out and that was vital.”
It’s a big week for the Knocknamona-based school. On Saturday, the senior footballers of Donegal and Derry will play in a challenge game to mark the official opening of the pitch.
