DONEGAL manager Rory Gallagher cut a disappointed figure outside of the St Tiernach’s Park dressing rooms in Clones this afternoon after his side went narrowly down to a 0-11 to 0-10 defeat to Monaghan in the Ulster final.
Gallagher felt the key phase in the contest was when Malachy O’Rourke’s Monaghan finished out the first half in commanding style to lead 0-8 to 0-4 at the interval.
Donegal dominated the chances in the second half, scoring six points to Monaghan’s three, but 11 wides in that period essentially undid any hopes of a fourth Ulster SFC title in five seasons.
