DESPITE HIS MEN going down 6-2 to Cookstown this afternoon, Richard Eaton was pleased with Raphoe’s battling second-half performance.
Raphoe found themselves 5-1 behind after Luke Witherow had opened the scoring just four minutes in.
Five of the six Cookstown goals came from set plays, but overall Eaton was satisfied how his side came out after the break.
“We battled well as a team, man-for-man,” Eaton told Donegal Sport Hub.
“Their movement off-the-ball and their ball speed was very good. I didn’t think 6-2 was a fair reflection. We were the better team in the second half.
“We came into the game and we did have chances. They are a very good team though and hopefully we can take that performance into the game with North Down next week.”
Unlike their rivals, Raphoe are set apart geographically and are in a constant battle for numbers.
Eaton said: “We brought a few young lads on there to blend them in and get them used to it. We have lost a lot of players, but you have to bring young lads through. That’s what it’s all about.
“We have a lot of farmers in the team and they have a lot of work on so they can’t commit to training, but we showed good heart today.”
