RATHMULLAN CELTIC player-manager Dara Patton was relieved to get through a dreaded penalty shoot-out against Gweedore Celtic on Sunday.
After falling behind to Chris McFadden’s early goal, Rathmullan levelled through Niall Carruthers.
“When you miss that amount of chances, you expect it to come back and bite you,” he told Donegal Sport Hub.
“The boys stepped up and were very confident for penalties and it was nice to get the victory.”
Rathmullan have had a promising start to the campaign and sit joint top of the League with St Catherine’s and Castlefin Celtic, but Patton isn’t getting ahead of himself.
He said: “We’ve had a good start to the season, but that’s all it is – something to build on.”
