PETER ALVEY ALWAYS had confidence in Cian Kennedy, whose ice cool ’45, four minutes into added time, saw Naomh Ultan eke out a win over Red Hughs in Saturday’s junior final replay.
Kennedy popped up with the winner after Red Hughs fought from six points down to draw level.
But Naomh Ultan squeezed through 2-6 to 2-5, thanks to Kennedy.
“I was confident that he’d put it over,” Alvey told Donegal Sport Hub’s Alan Foley afterwards.
“He does it every day in training. We’re very happy with the win.”
Alvey said: “We knew we had a blistering start in us. We took the foot off the pedal after that, but the start laid the concrete for us and we’re happy to get over the line.”
