PATSY MCGONAGLE has earmarked Sarah Collins for big things.
Collins, who runs under the Finn Valley AC banner, returned from a year out with injury on Saturday evening to win gold and lead her team to gold at the Big East Cross Country Championships in Mason, Ohio.
The Providence College student Collins led from gun to tape, winning in a time of 19:32.1
McGonagle previously described Collins as ‘the best young prospect I’ve seen in forty years’ after she broke Sonia O’Sullivan’s Irish junior record over 5,000m.
“That indicates clearly the ability that she has,” McGonagle told Donegal Sport Hub.
“The major championships are there if she stays injury free. She is on a list for the Olympics, but whether or not she makes it now is a different story
“She is improving all the time and she’s all set for the NCA’s now.”
