AFTER LAST night’s win over Finn Harps, Shamrock Rovers manager Pat Fenlon spent an age pacing the Finn Park pitch.
McCabe found the top shelf in style after Danny North was impeded by Richard Brush, the Harps goalkeeper.
Fenlon, as is his tradition, didn’t watch the penalty, but after the game the former Hibernian manager raised concerns about the state of the Finn Park pitch, his comments coming just 10 days after Kenny Shiels, the Derry City manager had called for the postponement of the north-west derby an hour before kick-off.
“It’s poor out there,” Fenlon said..
“It’s not a gripe, but it’s very difficult for both sets of players to play on that. It isn’t the only pitch in the League that’s poor. That’s where we need things to be right for players.
“Under licencing we make sure that everything else is right, but the most important thing is the pitch. You want to try and entertain the crowd if you can.”
