FINN HARPS MANAGER OLLIE HORGAN says the quick turnaround from Friday’s seven-goal hammering by Dundalk is a positive.
Harps suffered a 7-0 defeat to the champions at Finn Park, a result that is now the club’s worst ever League defeat, and they go this evening to Richmond Park to take on St Patrick’s Atletic.
“The longer that Friday dwelled or lingered on, it was a difficult pill to take, but we had to deal with it,” Horgan told Donegal Sport Hub.
“There’s no point in saying that they weren’t disappointed, but if they weren’t we’d have a different problem. They’re quite positive.
[adrotate group=”43″]“We lost one game. Had we played like that or anywhere near it in the previous games that we drew we’d have lost them all. We’re hoping that we have had all of our bad performances on the one night.
“We expected a few thumpings along the way. The fact that we didn’t get them away in Dundalk or away in Cork we felt: ‘Okay, maybe we won’t get them’.
“To make it difficult, we needed to be at our best and Dundalk to be at their worst, but it turned out the other way about.”
[adrotate group=”50″]Horgan’s Harps were on the wrong end of a 6-1 hammering to St Pat’s at Inchicore at the end of the 2014 season, but last month they gave Liam Buckley’s team a real game of it at Finn Park, where Pat’s won 2-1.
Horgan said: “We’re going into a place where we got our last heavy defeat, two years ago, after a heavy defeat, but the sooner the better we get back out on the pitch again and try to put it right the better.
“We will need to be at our best to make a game of it; if we’re not, it could be a long hour-and-a-half.”
[adrotate group=”38″]Horgan has a fresh injury doubt over Barry Molloy, while he continues to be without Michael Rafter, Josh Mailey, Raymond Foy and Matthew Crossan.
