FINN HARPS manager Ollie Horgan felt that his side had marginally held sway last night until Jake Kelly opened the scoring for Bohemians.
Kelly’s 68th minute opener was added to by Ismahil Akinade in the 88th minute as Bohemians scored a 2-0 win that takes them above Harps in the table.
Harps had their moments with Shane Supple, the Bohs goalkeeper, making saves from Tony McNamee and Ruairi Keating before Kelly tucked home the first goal of the night at Dalymount Park.
“It was quite an open game, especially in the second half,” Horgan told Donegal Sport Hub.
“Whoever got the first goal was always going to go on and win the game. Until the first goal, we had several chances – so had they, mind you – that we didn’t take.”
Kelly was a half-time sub and Horgan also felt that Eoin Wearen, introduced just before Kelly’s first goal, had an impact.
Horgan said: “The substitutes Bohs made gave them a little bit more. The game opened up in the second half. Eoin Wearen had a big influence and we didn’t deal with him. There are fine margins.
“Had we scored first, we might be talking differently, but we didn’t and they went and scored.
“We did quite well and still lost. We didn’t play well or deserve anything in the last couple of weeks.
“At least we made chances here. Last week and in Bray we made very little. At least here, we made Shane Supple make saves. There wasn’t a big margin in it.”
It’s three games without a win – and without a goal – for Harps now as the prepare for the final third of the season, starting on Friday night when they host Derry City at Finn Park.
Horgan, who confirmed that Damien McNulty will be out for ‘two months minimum’, said: “We need to turn the corner at some stage. Hopefully we can do that on Friday night.”
