BONAGEE UNITED manager Peter Moran was disappointed to lose to ‘ruthless’ Cockhill Celtic yesterday.
Bonagee came into the game in second place in the table, but have dropped to third after the defeat.
There were no complaints from Bonagee boss Moran.
“I’m disappointed because we conceded two from a whipped ball from a set-piece around the back,” Moran, pictured above by Geraldine Diver, told Donegal Sport Hub after the game.
“We watched them and I thought we had that sorted.
“They were quicker and sharper than us. They’re a fine side and are so clinical. They punished us.
“They’re quality and they’re a clinical side. They’re so ruthless. We had chances that we didn’t take. They had chances and took them.”
Letterkenny Rovers, Bonagee and Derry City Reserves have all dropped points in recent weeks and allowed Cockhill to increase the advantage. Gavin Cullen’s men have five to spare on Fanad United, who are now up into second.
Moran said: “We would hope that with a few boys back we’d be able to give them more of a game, but whoever finishes above Cockhill will be champions.
“They started something under Donal O’Brien and have kept it up. We’re hoping to get something similar moving here at Bonagee, but it will take time.
“They get 30 people to training; we’re lucky to get 15. It’s about the next step and about working on it.”
