Niall Doherty praised his Fanad United squad after their capture of the Donegal Youth League title yesterday.
“We went to Letterkenny on the first day of the season with 12 men on the squad, but we built on that and the numbers started to go up,” Doherty, who manages the side alongside Oran Blaney, said.
“From then, it’s been brilliant. They have trained hard. They’ve all turned up and they’ve played great football all season.”
After a scoreless first period, Devine broke the deadlock and McElwaine’s second had them popping the corks, even if Keadue did pull a goal back late in the day.
Doherty said: “Keadue is always a tough place to come to. We found it hard in the first half, but our football took over in the second half.
“We needed the second one – it relaxed everyone. We always felt Keadue could score one, so we were delighted to get the second goal and we’re glad to get over the line.”
