MIDWAY THROUGH THE second half this afternoon at Fr Tierney Park in Ballyshannon, Neil McGee wasn’t that far from the Cork goal.
The Donegal full-back had made a burst forward and although the notion to go himself did shoot through his head, McGee laid off for his Gaoth Dobhair clubmate Odhrán MacNiallais to score Donegal’s second goal.
As it transpired, Rory Gallagher’s side won 2-14 to 1-7 to cement their place on top of the Allianz League Division 1 table ahead of the three-week break.
“We got on top of their kick-outs there for a while,” McGee said. “We’re pleased with how it went. I was up before that and I missed that one. I was going to pull to trigger but I saw Odhrán as the safer option. I’d have got a bit of stick about that one.”
