IT JUST DIDN’T look good at one stage this afternoon for St Columba’s Comprehensive School Glenties.
Martin Regan’s team were 2-8 to 1-1 down and without the services of Eoghan McGettigan and Stefan Boyle, appeared to be faltering out of the Markey Cup at the quarter-final stage against Breifne College from Cavan.
However, Adam McHugh scored two goals and Jack Flannery posted three at St Columba’s won out in the end 6-4 to 3-10 in Irvinestown.
“I thought at that stage we were in trouble,” Regan said afterwards. “It wasn’t looking good in the first half. We were happy enough – and lucky enough – only to be six points down at half-time. It was hard to make head nor tail of it. We were very lucky to get some of the goals we got but you will take them breaks when they come.”
