ONE OF THE features of Donegal’s win over Down yesterday was the performance of Martin O’Reilly at centre-back.
The MacCumhaills man excelled in the position and was the recipient of a number of Man of the Match votes from reporters, although that award was scooped by Ciaran Thompson.
“I played a bit there at under-21. It’s difficult, but I’m enjoying it,” O’Reilly told Donegal Sport Hub afterwards.

“You have to play for the greater good of the side.”
O’Reilly was involved as a link in several attacks and scored two frees himself in the 1-11 to 0-11 win.
He said: “It’s a great start. It’s great to see the young boys doing well.
“There’s no doubt that you be nervous on the first day out, but the boys did super.”
