LORCAN O’TOOLE came into the job as manager of the Donegal minor hurlers expecting to make progress – and last night’s winning of the Ulster Minor Hurling Shield was certainly a fine way to begin.
Kevin Brady, Ciaran Randles and Macauley netted the goals for Donegal as they claimed a memorable win.

A Conor McGettigan hat-trick had Tyrone breathing down the Donegal necks, but it was in these moments that the calibre of O’Toole’s team shone.
“Tyrone really brought it to us,” the Donegal manager told Donegal Sport Hub.
“We pulled away and Tyrone responded every single time. The lads lifted it every time, too. The boys drove on and got very important points. There was steel there today; they were superb.
“We’re so proud of them. They all stepped up to the mark and got involved. Sometimes finals can pass you by, especially at that age, but they were really up for it.
“They tackled, hassled and harried and gave nothing easy.
“We kept at them and they kept it going until the end. Tyrone were driving on late on, but Ciaran Bradley and the defence made some unbelievable stops.”
