FOR Kilcar and Michael Hegarty, the championship for real starts now.
Last year the Towney side were edged out in the group stages of the RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta SFC on points difference in an uncompromising pool with Glenswilly and St Michael’s.
On Sunday, Kilcar defeated Termon 3-12 to 1-8 to win Group 4 with a 100 per cent record, although Hegarty prefers the old two-legged straight knock-out format. Either way, it’s knock-out football from here on in for 2015.
“I suppose a lot of teams would like to go back to the knock-out,” he said. “I think the home and away brings with it more atmosphere. But hopefully now we can have a few good matches.”
