THERE was a hero’s welcome today for Kieran Murray in Ramelton following his exploits in the World Transplant Games in Argentina.
Murray won two gold medals – in the 5K road race and the 1500m – in his age group (30-39 years) and also picked up a bronze in the 800m at Mar del Plata.
“It couldn’t have went any better,” Murray, who has had two kidney transplants, said today. “I was delighted. I just kept pushing and pushing, like when you hear that voice in your head.”
Last year, the Milford AC member won three gold medals from last year’s European Transplant and Dialysis Games that took place in Krakow, Poland.
