THERE’S FIVE TEAMS taking centre stage at MacCumhaill Park on Sunday.
As well as St Eunan’s and Naomh Conaill battling for the RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta SFC and Ardara facing Glenswilly in the Senior Reserve final, the team of 25 years will be introduced to the crowd.
That team will be Naomh Columba (pictured above courtesy of Irish Newspaper Archive), who in 1990 won the Dr Maguire Cup for the second time – adding to their previous triumph of 1978 – following their victory over Killybegs, 0-10 to 0-9.
“1990 was a very special year for the club,” John Joe Doherty said. “Rural parishes like that – you don’t get that many chances. We were happy, lucky and honoured to have been fortunate enough to win it that year.”
