INISHOWEN LEAGUE defender John Gerard McLaughlin says his side was never going to be happy with a draw last night against Donegal.
The win maintains Inishowen’s good record of late in the Oscar Traynor Cup. They won the title in 2015 and lost the final in 2013, with two semi-final appearances, in 2016 and 2014 also included.
Last night at Maginn Park, Diarmuid O’Brien’s team had to work hard for their victory.
[adrotate group=”88″]“We got out of jail,” McLaughlin told Donegal Sport Hub.
“We weren’t at our normally-high standards and we took the foot off the gas in the second half. Donegal came back into it, but we showed good character there. A lot of teams would be happy with the draw, but not this team.”
The Glengad United centre-back believes the Inishowen men will have a big say in the competition again this season.
[adrotate group=”80″]He said: “We entered this competition thinking that we wanted to win it, so hopefully we can go from strength to strength now.”
