JASON QUIGLEY DEDICATED his Civic Reception to those people who ‘put blood, sweat and tears’ into boxing in Donegal.
The 24-year-old from Ballybofey was accorded with the Civic Reception to honour his winning of the European senior middleweight title in 2013.
Quigley’s record as a professional is now 9-0 (8KOs), coming after a stellar amateur career with the Finn Valley ABC and Team Ireland.
“It’s a great honour for me, my family and for Donegal boxing; all the young boxers and everyone who puts in blood, sweat and tears in the gyms,” Quigley told Donegal Sport Hub at the County House in Lifford.
“It’s a sign that you can get somewhere after all the work.
“It’s a great inspiration for me to recieve it and hopefully an inspiration for the young boxers to keep doing the hard work.”
Quigley will return to Los Angeles after spending Christmas at home in Ballybofey and is looking forward to a breakout year in 2016.
“I’m on a journey,” he said.
“I’ve only just got into the car and turned on the keys. My dreams are massive and I’m nowhere near it. I have a long way to go and there’ll be a lot of crossroads. It’s just one fight at a time and I have to stay focussed, determined and focussed.
“I’m not going to let anything stand in the way of my dreams.”
