RAPHOE ARE still searching for a first Ulster Premier League win of the season, but Ian McGonigle believes the Donegal side aren’t far from turning a corner.
Raphoe finished joint third last season with Belfast Harlequins, but are currently propping up the division after another narrow loss on Saturday, when Mossley left the Royal and Prior with a 1-0 win.
“We’re not taking our chances and that’s the difference,” McGonigle told Donegal Sport Hub.
“We’d have won that game 2-1 last season. We’ll keep plugging away and, eventually, it’ll come.
[adrotate group=”76″]“Our confidence is lacking a wee bit, but hopefully we’ll get the results in the New Year, results we feel that we deserve.”
McGonigle insist that the Raphoe men won’t give in. While Ben Wallace’s departure was a big void to fill over the summer, a youthful Raphoe – with 15-year-olds Jordan Devenney, Tom Eaton and Tommy Orr in tow – are remaining competitive.
McGonigle said: “It’s tough going. Again, we’ll plug away and keep going. Confidence is coming at last. This last few weeks there has been a wee turning point. One win and we are back in it again.”
