THE COMMUNITY GAMES organisation has been going since 1967 and goes from strength to strength with two Donegal natives on the National Executive.
Gerry Davenport is the National President and is entering his sixth year in the role while Bernie Brennan is the PR Director.
The national finals were held in Athlone in August and Donegal Sport Hub caught up with the Donegal duo (pictured above).
“The two weekends were a big success,” Davenport said.
“We had more events and the crowds that attended were well up on last year.”
In a wide-ranging interview, they speak about the past, present and the future of an organisation that is at the heart of most communities in Ireland.
“You only have to see our heroes page to see the amount of people who’ve come through,” Brennan said.
“There is such a buzz and we also have so many cultural events as well as the sport.”
