GOALKEEPER GAVIN MULREANEY has been one of the heroes as Abbey Vocational School won their first ever Danske Bank Markey Cup.
A member of the Donegal minor panel, Mulreaney was influential again last night as Abbey overcame Fermanagh Vocational Schools 1-12 to 1-5 in the final at Garvaghey.
“It’s something else, crazy really,” Mulreaney said. “It was class.”
Abbey lost the Donegal senior schools final to St Columba’s of Glenties in December, but took Ulster by storm, culminating in the historic victory last night.
Mulreaney said: “Since we were beaten by Glenties we have really upped the levels. We stuck at it. We stood up to the challenge and we’ve met everything head on. It’s been brilliant.”
